Lt. Frank Taylor

Lieutenant Frank Taylor is the Assistant Chief of Police for the Palm Desert Police Department. The dedicated Assistant Chief of Police position is fully supported by the City of Palm Desert to provide focused attention to the overall operation of the Palm Desert Police Department. Lieutenant Taylor is the city's point of contact for all City police services and represents the Police Department on the city's Executive Committee and Public Safety Commission.

Lieutenant Taylor is a twenty-three year veteran of the department and has resided in Palm Desert for the last twenty-one years. The majority of his assignments have been stationed out of Palm Desert Station. While a member of the Palm Desert Police, he served as a Field Training Officer and Target Team member. After his promotion to Investigator, he worked Gangs and Intelligence, then later Crimes Against Persons, including robberies and homicides. After being promoted to Sergeant, he was assigned as one of the dedicated Palm Desert Police Sergeants, with responsibility as Watch Commander. He later became one of the first supervisor's of the newly formed Central Homicide Unit, where he worked for 5 ½ years. He was part of over 120 homicide investigations, along with over 30 Officer Involved shootings. He was promoted to Lieutenant in January of 2006 and assigned to the Indio Station, where he oversaw operations of the Administrative, Investigations, and Forensics Bureaus.

Lieutenant Taylor is a lifetime member of the California Narcotics Officer's Association. (CNOA) He was awarded the departments Distinguished Service award in 2000, along with the departments Medal of Merit award in 2004. He graduated from California State University at San Bernardino and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice. He is an adjunct instructor at College of the Desert, where he teaches at the Public Safety Academy.

Lieutenant Taylor and his wife Morii, a Community Services Officer within the Palm Desert Police, still reside in Palm Desert and their children are all grown. He is dedicated to continue the department's history of providing Professional, Progressive, and Innovative Community Service, while continuing their motto, "Professionals Who Care".
